Google has unveiled a redesigned new version of Wear OS. Google has added a few new features and eliminated some of the minor gripes with previous versions of the design with fresh User Interface.
This update focuses primarily on making it easier to access the Assistant, fitness data, and notifications. Google Fit is now just a single swipe away from the watchface, and notifications will now appear in a stream rather than showing individual cards.
Every Wear OS device will be getting updated with this redesign. Google has confirmed that if a watch was updated to Android Wear 2.0, it will be updated to the redesign which is going to roll out next month.
The main swipe features that the update brings are:
- Swipe right will bring Google Assistant feed of information.
- Swiping to the left will open Google Fits new fitness tracking.
- Swiping up will show notifications.
- Swiping down will take you to Quick Settings shortcut.
- Long press on the watchface will change the watchface.
- Short press the main button will let you see all apps.
- Long press the main button will invoke Google Assistant to ask questions.
The smart assistant has now become more smarter. Android users will a be able to send quick replies to texts using the built in smart replies. Google says those quick replies will adapt to your speaking style over time.
The new Wear OS is designed to help user stay on top of important events and people in their lives without having to stay tangled to their phones.
The new Wear OS might take a while to get used to it. But it has added many useful features and Google has tried to make it more easy, fast and efficient.
