Huawei Unveils much anticipated Flagship P30 Series lineup along with Watch GT Active, Elegant and Freelace Wireless Earbuds at an event in Paris

Huawei has officially unveiled the Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro at an event held in Paris. The smartphones are the successor of last year’s Huawei P20. The handsets are pretty much camera focused as they become the first available smartphones with a 10x lossless hybrid zoom lens. The P30 series features smaller notch and reduced bezels. Both handsets have also packs increased battery, they boasts an earpiece less design on the front screen. The unlock speed on the in display fingerprint scanner is now 30 percent faster.

Now let's get into detailed specs and features of both the devices.

Design and Display: The P30 comes with a 6.1 inch screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The P30 Pro has a slightly larger 6.47 inch screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Both handsets come with FHD+ OLED displays. Both phones have a water drop notch that houses the selfie camera. The P30 Pro is IP68 water and dust resistant. The display actually has no visible earpiece, instead, the Huawei P30 Pro includes an electromagnetic levitation speaker that is basically a vibrating portion of the display that acts as the earpiece. However, the P30 does include a slimline earpiece. The colour finishes on both devices are made from 9 layers of nano optical color finish material. Color options of the phones include Breathing Crystal, Amber Sunrise, Pearl White, Aurora and Black.

Hardware and Software: Both the devices are powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 980 chipset which features two Cortex A76 cores and four Cortex A55 cores paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of base storage that is expandable via Nano memory card. A 512GB model will also be available but only in a solitary color option. The P30 and P30 Pro will come with EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box, which delivers enhanced gesture navigation. A one second press of the power button will wake up an AI assistant like Google Assistant. Huawei Share OneHop is also supported that allows files to be shared between supportive phones and laptops such as the Huawei MateBook X Pro.

Camera and Photography: The Huawei P30 Series devices are the company’s most advanced camera smartphones to date. Camera specs for the P30 Pro includes plenty of creative options for the users interested in photography or videography. The specifications includes a 40MP main sensor at f/1.6 with OIS, a 20MP 16mm ultra wide angle lens at f/2.2, an 8MP 5x periscope lens at f/3.4 and a Time of Flight ToF sensor that helps improves depth sensing for better bokeh effects. While the standard Huawei P30 is not quite as amazing as the Pro variant but it still includes some impressive camera tech. Users gets a 40MP main sensor at f/1.8, a 16MP ultra wide angle lens at f/2.2 and an 8MP 3x telephoto zoom lens. Both handsets include a brand new type of camera sensor Instead of the usual RGB sensors found in almost all other device available in the market, Huawei has developed a brand new RYYB sensor that is said to improve light absorption by almost 40%. This makes possible even greater low light shots. To back that increase sensitivity claim, the ISO levels that the P30 Pro is able to capture now supersedes anything available on other smartphones. Users can increase the ISO up to 409,600 on the P30 Pro and 204,800 on the P30. Which is Much higher than anything seen on a handset before. Huawei has designed a new AI driven HDR+ mode that creates an intelligent exposure map for the entire frame of a photo and then adjusts each section of the image. It will detect faces and landscape markers, such as grass or the sun, and treat each of the object appropriately. As for the front facing camera, both the phones houses an impressive 32MP sensor with AI HDR+.

Battery and Price: Huawei P30 is fueled by 3,650mAh battery while P30 Pro is backed by a 4,500mAh battery that offers reverse wireless charging, like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. It supports 40W super charging technology.

The Huawei P30 costs 799 Euros (Approx Rs. 126,000 in Pakistan). While the Huawei P30 Pro starts at 999 Euros (Approx Rs. 158,00p in PKR) for the base 128GB unit. The new Huawei P30 Series will be available for pre order in Pakistan from April 6, 2019 and available from April 13, 2019.

Other than the flagship P30 and P30 Pro, Huawei has also launched Huawei Watch GT Active and Elegant along with FreeLace Wireless Earbuds and Huawei X Gentle Monster.

Huawei Watch GT Active: The Huawei Watch GT Active builds on top of the original design with some slight tweaks to the body, new colors for the bands, and the same 2 week battery life. This new variant ditches the large 46mm casing of the other variants for a smaller 42mm casing. Huawei Watch GT gets a visual refresh with a titanium grey case and a new bezel pattern color. The bezels on the new model are black with orange accents. It has the same 1.39 inch AMOLED display. The Huawei Watch GT Active is priced at €249 (Around Rs. 39,500 in PKR). The Active edition is available in orange and dark green color options.

Huawei Watch GT Elegant: The Huawei Watch GT Elegant edition has a smaller 42mm ceramic bezel so will likely be a more attractive option for those with smaller wrists. It's 1.2 inch AMOLED display packs a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels. The Elegant edition is smaller and lighter, the battery life is also less at only one week of typical usage with daily tracking, sleep tracking, and some exercise use. The Watch GT Elegant Edition will go on sale for 229 euros (Approx Rs. 36,000 in PKR). The Huawei Watch GT Elegant Edition comes in two color options, Magic Pearl White and Tahitian Magic Black Pearl. The TruSleep sleep tracking and Huawei TruSeen 3.0 heart rate monitoring is supported on both these new watches.

FreeLace Wireless Earbuds: There are alot of options available for wireless earbuds, now Huawei is offering up its own variant with the FreeLace Earbuds. These earbuds are designed with sports and exercise in mind. They seems to incorporate Huawei's elegant design with memory metal wrapped in liquid silicon, as well as its Huawei HiPair pairing setup process. Rather than searching for a USB C cable to charge the headphones, users can simply separate the cable from volume buttons and have a USB C male end that can be plugged into the smartphone for charging. Huawei smartphones running EMUI 9.1 will automatically recognize the FreeLace and then pair them to the phone. Huawei claims that the Huawei FreeLace earphones can manage upto 18 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. The Huawei FreeLace earbuds will come in four color options, Black, Amber Sunrise, Emerald Green, and Moonlight Silver with a price tag of 99 Euros (Approx Rs. 15,000 in PKR).
