Samsung Electronics filed two trademark applications with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) on 29th of October 2018. It concerns the brand names 'Galaxy J2 Dash' and 'Galaxy J2 Pure'. The trademark applications were published on 3rd of November 2018.
The two new Samsung smartphones will probably be available exclusively from certain US providers, as variants of the Galaxy J2 Core. The device was unveiled in August this year as the first Android Go smartphone from Samsung. In America, a device more often gets multiple names, varying per provider.
The budget smartphone was launched in India and Malaysia, however Samsung announced during the introduction that the phone would also be released in other countries. Yesterday, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core was approved by the American inspection authority FCC. You may also assume that this device will soon be officially released in America and will be named Galaxy J2 Pure and J2 Dash by different service providers.
Google has designed the Android Go operating system specifically for smartphones with cheap hardware. It is a stripped down version of the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. Android Go smartphones will be provided with software updates just as often as the regular OS.
The J2 Core features a 5 inch display with a 960 × 540 pixels of resolution. There is a 1.4Ghz quad core Exynos 7570 chip with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. An 8 megapixel main camera is available on the back for making photo and video recordings. With the selfie camera you can shoot 5 megapixel photos. The phone is lit up by a 2,600 mAh battery.
