Co founder and president Xiaomi Bin Lin, posted a rendered photo of the upcoming Mi Mix 3 smartphone on a Chinese social media platform yesterday. Launch and sales of the new phone will begin in October.
According to the render, the upcoming Mi Mix 3 will sport a camera slider that's similar to what we've seen on the Find X by Oppo.
The post came on the verge of Huaweis Honor Magic 2 announcement, the upcoming phone also offers a mechanical slider that houses the camera sensors.
Based on the render, it looks like Xiaomi is integrating the camera module into the chassis of the mechanism, with the display sliding down to reveal the camera array. It also looks like we will see a similar IR based face unlock system like the Mi 8.
It has been 5 months since Xiaomi released the Mi Mix 2S in late March. Which had a 5.99 inch screen but an unimpressive screen to body ratio of 81.9% mainly due to the large bezel at the bottom that housed its front camera. But this time it seems that Xiaomi is going to achieve 90% screen to body ratio with sliding camera.
Overall, the Mi Mix 3 looks elegant, fluid and perfectly in tune with the current smartphone design trends. While no information has been released with regards to the specifications or the price of the new Mi Mix 3.
