Xiaomi has set December 24th as the launch date of its first smartphone in the new Play series. Making the announcement, Xiaomi said, New mobile phone, released on December 24, Xiaomi Play comes with traffic, may be the Christmas gift you want most.
The Play smartphone will make its debut in China first, and is expected to be a gaming device. The new series could sit next to the existing Mi and Redmi families. Theres little to no information available about the phone as of now. However, speculations are rife that it could be the China version of POCO F1.
If thats the case, then it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC under the hood, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage. A 4,000mAh battery is likely to fuel the device. The company recently rolled out Android 9.0 Pie update for its smartphones so it will also be part of Xiaomi Play.
While in the photography department, Poco F1 comes with a 12MP Sony IMX363 primary sensor, coupled with a 5MPl secondary sensor on the back of the phone. On the front theres a 20MP selfie camera powered with artificial intelligence for capturing enhanced selfie shots.
To know precisely if the Xiaomi Play is the rebranded version of Pocophone F1 or a completely new smartphone, we have to wait till 24th December when the company will officially launch the smartphone.
