Apple's AirPower wireless charging pad might release in September

Back in September, alongside the Apples newest iPhone lineup that would support wireless charging, company announced AirPower, a charging mat that was capable of charging multiple devices so you can charge your iPhone, iPad, iPod and Apple Watch all at once.

Nine months passed since the announcement and company is yet to reveal the product. According to report, "technical hurdles" have caused AirPower to be delayed. They're now expected to launch either before or in september. We still have no idea how much it'll cost, but it likely won't be cheap.

Apple engineers are reportedly trying to make sure AirPower doesn't overheat because safety is very important. Firmware related bugs also need to be removed.

Another reason for AirPower's absence since its announcement is that Apple wants to enable wireless charging no matter where you place your iPhone, Apple Watch, or AirPods on AirPower's surface. To achieve this kind of wireless charging surface area, Apple reportedly needs to use multiple custom shaped charging pads that overlap underneath the pad.

Apples initial shipment goal was June, but in light of the unforeseen difficulties, the company is now said to be aiming for a September release, possibly coinciding with the launch of the 2018 iPhone lineup. Regardless of the delays, though, Apples next accessory will play a much more important role in the companys goal of removing all physical ports and buttons from iPhones.
