Google smartwatches are finally going to arrive with Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL and Pixel Buds when Google is set to host its hardware event in October.
According to a report, the wearable will be powered by WearOS and would be based on a new wearable platform from Qualcomm. It is expected to be Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 which includes a PMW3100 IC specifically designed for energy conservation and better battery life.
This will be the first flagship watch entirely designed and manufactured by Google. The company is not working on one, but on three Wear OS watches. Codenamed Ling, Triton and Sardine. These might be variants of the same watch. The watches will have GPS, LTE and VoLTE support.
Some sources suggest the watches will come with additional security features such as a fingerprint scanner or facial recognition. Users can directly interact with the device as it takes voice commands and therefore they do not have to bring the smart watch back from its standby mode.
Google has never rolled out its own wearable. As far as the smartwatch category is concerned, it has always been behind the likes of Apple and Samsung. Let's see if Google could surprise us by bringing something extraordinary to wear on the wrists.
