Gmail's new update for Android adds new gestures

Maintaining your Gmail account has now become more easier for Android users as Google has rolled out new gesture features that allows you to perform different actions, including deleting an email or archiving it, by simply swiping the email in different directions.

The swipe actions, which come as part of Gmails updated version 8.5.20, will include the archive, delete, mark as read or unread, move to and snooze options. Pick the ones you want and when you browse any inbox or folder inside Gmail, a simple swipe in each direction will perform your chosen action.

With the update it is now possible to customize the left and right swipe gestures to perform one of five actions which are archive, delete, mark as read/unread, move to, and snooze.

The update has been here for over a week on Gmail for Android but the options has not come to iOS as yet.

Google is in the process of dissolving the old Gmail design and introducing a totally new look to it.

For people who finds it easy to manage things on their phone by gestures will find it much easier to deal with the contents of your Gmail inbox.
