Huawei P40 Series Officially Unveiled Via an Online Launch Event Live on Youtube

Huawei introduced the much-awaited flagship Huawei P40 series via an online launch event held on Youtube. The event was hosted by Huawei Consumer CEO Richard Yu. The event kicked off by showing a promotional video giving insight to the viewer’s company’s mission and vision to make 2020 a great year for its consumers. After a brief introduction, the CEO stated that the P40 series will take mobile photography to new heights with enthralling camera specifications bundled with extraordinary software.

Huawei announced the new flagship series with top of the line specifications, futuristic design, astonishing camera and Google-free ecosystem developed by Huawei. The Huawei P40 flagship series comprises P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Pro Plus. The smartphones are going to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S20 lineup. Now, we shall go through each of the P40 series smartphones separately so you can grasp all the important features and specifications they offer.

Huawei P40

Huawei P40 is the smallest of all three with a 6.1-inch FHD+ display and a wide punch-hole. It supports a 60Hz refresh rate. The Smartphone is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 990 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The P40 includes IP53 water and dust protection and runs HMS backed EMUI 10.1 which brings features such as Huawei share.

The P40 has what you may call modest specs as compared to its other versions, P40 Pro and the P40 Pro Plus. Huawei P40 brings a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 50MP primary sensor, a 16MP secondary lens, and an 8MP supporting camera. The device is fuelled by a 3,800mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support using a Type-C cable.

Huawei P40 Pro

We know that Huawei P40 is a bit toned down to be called a flagship, so let’s move on to the true flagships: Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus. Both smartphones feature a 6.58-inch octa flex display which is curved on both sides. The display on both devices is capable of Quad HD+ resolutions and a 90Hz refresh rate. It also supports DCI-P3 HDR color gamut.

The P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus are powered by Huawei’s 5G Kirin 990 chipset paired with a minimum of 8GB of RAM. The P40 Pro provides up to 256GB of internal storage while the Pro Plus offers up to 512GB internal storage. The two also boast of IP68 water and dust resistance. While on the software side, the phones come running HMS-based EMUI 10.1

The main highlight of both devices is their astounding camera specifications. The P40 Pro comes with a Quad Rear Camera Setup comprising a 50MP primary lens, a 40MP secondary lens, a 12MP telephoto lens, and a ToF sensor paired with color temperature sensing capabilities as well.

Huawei P40 Pro Plus

For Huawei P40 Pro Plus, Huawei has incorporated Leica Ultra Vision Camera Setup that consists of a 50MP primary lens, a 40MP secondary lens, an 8MP periscope lens, an 8MP telephoto lens, a ToF sensor, and a color temperature sensor as well. In a nutshell, Huawei has really taken mobile photography to another level with the P40 series.

In terms of battery, the P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus both pack a 4,200mAh cell with 40W wired fast charging support. The P40 Pro provides 27W wireless charging while the P40 Pro Plus also offers 40W super-fast wireless charging. Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will be available from April 7th while the most powerful Huawei P40 Pro Plus will make it to the markets in June.
