Last quarter report of previous year suggests Samsung and Apple still leads the global smartphone market

Market research firm, Counterpoint has published a new statistical report on the 4th quarter of last year’s smartphone business and market share. Samsung still leads the global smartphone market and holds the first position in global smartphone sales. While Apple is at second position followed by Chinese technology giant Huawei.

Samsung has 18% global market share in sales of smartphone while Apple captured 17% of the market and Huawei has 15% of market share. On number 4 there is OPPO which has 8% of market captured then Xiaomi and Vivo are accounted for 7% of smartphones sold globally. Lenovo has holded 3% of market while other smartphone manufacturers has got 25% of market share.

The statistical report suggests that top ten smartphone manufacturers shares 78% of market share while other 600 different smartphone companies has 22% of the market. The report suggests that Huawei is on verge to takeover Apple as the second most smartphone selling brand.

Apple’s sales has seen a considerable decline in the last quarter of 2018. Whole of the smartphone industry has seen a decline of 7% in previous year by selling 394.5 million smartphone units because of economic slowdown all over the world. Only Central and Eastern Europe achieved a positive growth in 2018.
