Since some period of time, Oppo has been really working hard to bring out the latest innovations in smartphones. Its flagship Find X got rave reviews for its design and innovative approach and now the upcoming R17 Pro is also getting a lot of attention thanks to the overall design and the minimal notch.
OPPO R17 Pro: Triple-Camera Setup Teased in New Video
The OPPO R17 Pro video teaser confirms all the three camera sensors at the back of the phone will be stacked vertically. Below the triple rear cameras is a dual-LED flash module. There is no fingerprint sensor visible at the rear as the R17 Pro is expected to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. As confirmed by OPPO previously, the R17 Pro will feature a 3D glass gradient back. However, the company will also be offering a version of the R17 Pro with a matte back. The wide-angle lens at the rear is expected to come with a variable aperture, allowing the camera app to switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture depending on the lighting conditions. In daylight, the camera will use the f/2.4 aperture, while in low-light the f/1.5 aperture will be used to achieve lower noise.
OPPO R17 Pro: Specifications, Features
The OPPO R17 Pro is expected to feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a water drop notch design, identical to the R17. Thanks to the water drop notch, the 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ panel with a 19:9 aspect ratio will boast an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91.5%. Protecting the display will be a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6.Under the hood, OPPO R17 Pro is expected to run on a 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, an upgrade over the Snapdragon 670 chipset powering.
Apart from running on a slightly more powerful chipset under the hood, the OPPO R17 Pro will have a clear edge over the R17 in terms of optics as well. While the R17 is expected to feature a dual-camera setup at the rear with a 16MP resolution primary camera, the R17 Pro will have a triple-camera setup at the rear with a variable aperture feature. For selfies, both the R series smartphones are expected to sport a 25MP snapper at the front with an f/2.0 aperture and AI-powered beauty as well as 3D Portrait mode features. It is likely that the 25MP module is the same one that we have seen on the OPPO Find X.
Connectivity features will include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C port, and Dual 4G VoLTE. The smartphone is expected to pack a 3500mAh capacity battery with VOOC Flash Charge fast charging technology. In terms of software, the OPPO R17 Pro will debut with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 out of the box.
The OPPO R17 Pro is expected to be made official at the companys upcoming event in Shanghai, China on August 23. It is likely that both the R17 and R17 Pro smartphones will go on sale in the country before the end of the month. As for pricing, rumors suggest the R17 series could start at 2,999 yuan in China, which translates to Rs.30,500 based on the current exchange rate. The R17 Pro variant will obviously start at a slightly higher price point.
