Samsung unveiled its much anticipated foldable phone in San Francisco on Wednesday, the phone is based on Infinity Flex Display which Samsung calls the foundation of the smartphone of tomorrow. At the revelation of Folding Phone Samsung urged Android developers to start writing apps for the new device as it will get into production on mass scale in coming months.
What we were expecting to be a foldable phone appears to be a foldable Tablet because When unfolded, the device resembles a 7.3in (18.5cm) tablet. When closed, a separate smaller cover display on the handset’s other side comes into use. So when Folded it appears to resemble a thick phone.
Samsung has not been into the specifications of the phone so internals are still unknown. But one thing is clear that Samsung has won the foldable display race with Huawei by teasing the device. Other smartphone manufacturers are also developing the technology.
Google is also holding a developer event of its own for Android programmers. One of its engineering chiefs announced that it would soon add support to the operating system to allow more manufactures to create foldable phones of their own.
