Samsung remains the top global smartphone maker in the world as ranked by shipments, though the numbers have been dropping constantly. It seems Samsung will retain its position a big way next year with the planned release of the companys much hyped foldable smartphone, as well as the Galaxy S10. But we may have yet another product series to add to that mix.
Samsung filed a trademark application in the UK at the end of November for the name Samsung Rize. The UK listing specifically mentions smartphones and appears to refer to device names that include the Samsung Rize 10, Samsung Rize 20 and Samsung Rize 30.
This would bring an all new line up to Samsungs current smartphone series that include Galaxy Note, S, A and J devices. Samsung hasnt said anything officially yet about the Rize branded devices, though, the trademark filings specifically refer to smartphones. Wo well have to wait and see what the South Korean technology giant has planned this time around.
If indeed the Rize series turns out to be another range of mobile devices, the new series is expected to be composed of handsets with modest specs because Samsung already has a huge portfolio of mid range and high end devices. More details on that aspect are expected to come up in the coming months.
