It's been a long time since we heard about the foldable smartphone from Samsung. Initial rumours and speculations had made us think that the device would be called the Galaxy X or the 10th anniversary Galaxy smartphone. However, recent reports have pointed out that Samsung could be starting a new lineup of foldable smartphones with the brand name Galaxy F, F for Foldable.
This new display features a flexible OLED screen, nothing new there then. But instead of the usual glass window placed on top of that, this uses a fortified plastic instead which is almost unbreakable.
In addition to this, the Galaxy F have revealed that it can handle 20,000+ folds, which is the equivalent of 55 times a day for an entire year. The handset, when folded, will also be no thicker than the iPhone 7.
A foldable phone has a much bigger display, which means it will consume a lot more energy. That means the handset should pack a battery big enough to deliver a decent battery life. But because the screen needs to fold, other internal components might also need to be flexible and so does the battery cells.
On the other hand, Galaxy X is apparently now going to be a gaming device. Perhaps the start of an entirely new line of gaming focussed handsets from Samsung. To be more precise In 2019 well see Samsung add at least two new phone lines the Galaxy X and the Galaxy F.
