Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has recently patented a smartphone design which has a square shaped secondary display on the back and quad rear camera setup. As seen in the patent, the device looks like an ordinary smartphone with large display, ultra slim bezels and an earpiece on top. While the secondary display is a small square shaped screen same in size as the quad camera module.
Reports suggests that the secondary display will work for caller id display and notifications pop up while the mobile is placed facing downwards. There is no selfie camera can be seen in the design Xiaomi has filed for patent which suggests either it will sport a motorized front camera or the back cameras will act as selfie camera and the user can see it on the secondary display.
The company has also filed for a foldable display smartphone patent in August with five pop up cameras. The device will have an outward folding design, depending on how the users hold the device the cameras will act as front as well as back both. The patents suggests that the smartphone will have minimal bezels and no notch. The foldable Xiaomi phone is expected to make debut by the end of 2019.
