edotco Pakistan recently organized its first industrial women’s event in Islamabad on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Hosted by their Country Managing Director, Arif Hussain, this event saw attendance from over 140 females from UN, UNDP, UN Women and Government of Pakistan as well as all telecommunication players – Jazz, Ufone, Zong, Telenor and PTCL. This event was an opportunity for emphasis and engaged dialog towards advancing greater gender participation in the industry.
A guest speaking session saw participation from some of Pakistan’s high-profile women including Andleeb Abbas, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Fauzia Yazdani, Social Policy Advisor (Gender, Governance and Education) and Kamila Khan, Chief Legal Officer at Jazz.
edotco Pakistan’s Ladies Club was also officially announced at the event. This club will focus on developing business leadership as well as personal growth and development of the company’s female employees.
This event was a showcase of edotco’s commitment to gender equality at the workplace and overall support for female representation throughout all levels of public and private enterprises to ensure a better future for all. As per Arif Hussain, in edotco’s short five year history, the company has substantially increased women team members in entry (24%) and middle management (72%) positions. At the board level this figure stands at 20%; overall the company has overseen a 36% increase in female employees across all six operating countries.
