At its recent developer conference, Samsung teased several new notch styles that it is working on for future devices. Samsung showed four new types of displays namely, Infinity U, Infinity V, Infinity O, and New Infinity.
Reports confirmed Samsung Galaxy A8s will be the first Samsung device to feature the Infinity O configuration with a display hole for the front-facing camera. Said display hole would allow Samsung to remove the top bezel entirely and make room for a 6.39 inch 19.5:9 FHD+ display manufactured by BOE.
The Galaxy A8s is rumored to be an updated version of Samsung's midrange Galaxy A8. The phones specifications includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor under the hood, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It keeps a similar camera setup to the Galaxy A7 on the back, and the front facing camera inside the display hole is 24MP with a 6.4mm diameter. The phone might run Android 9 Pie out of the box powered by a 3,400mAh battery.
Samsung is not alone in introducing this type of screen as Huawei also teased a device with similar pinhole camera in in the display which will reportedly debut the phone sometime in December this year.
