Nokia 6.1 Plus Hide Notch Option will return, HMD Global confirms

Notches have now became quite a trend now, HMD Global also launched few Nokia phones following the Notch trend, but, like other smartphone brands, the company has allowed users to hide the notch via setting. However, the feature was recently removed on the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

Nokia 6.1 Plus users were recently reporting of a missing hide notch option after the August security update. While some users prefer using the display in the notched style and many dont.

Since the Nokia 6.1 Plus is an Android One device and boots Android Oreo 8.1 in stock version, the objection from Google to Nokias additional Hide Notch setting might just have been natural as its running stock android but still filled an additional setting to it.

However, Thanks to the issue gaining hype in just a matter of days, HMD Globals Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas has now taken to Twitter to clarify that the company will be bringing back the ability to hide the notch through a software update for the Nokia 6.1 Plus. He clarified that the setting to black out the notch will be coming back.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched on August 21 as an Android One device. The Nokia 6.1 Plus ships with a 5.8 inch Full HD+ display of the IPS LCD type. The display has a small notch at the top and achieves the new 19:9 aspect ratio.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, a mid range 1.8GHz chipset that is paired to a 4GB RAM. Internal storage is 64GB which is expandable via microSd Card.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a 16MP + 5MP dual rear camera system, a dual tone dual LED flash, and electronic image stabilization for HD video recording. The front snapper has a 16MP wide angle (f/2.0) lens.
