Xiaomi has showcased its 5G version of the Mi MIX 3 at the China Mobile Global Partner Conference. Xiaomi used the opportunity at the event to show the capabilities of this 5G smartphone, including live video streaming and random web surfing.
Xiaomi has been working on 5G technology since 2016, and it has a partnership with one of Chinas largest carriers, China Mobile, to explore more applications of the tech. The 5G version of the Mi Mix 3 may become available early next year worldwide.
The phone uses the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, and reportedly offers download speeds of up to 2 Gbps. The regular version of Mi Mix 3 runs on the Snapdragon 845. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 was recently announced at the Qualcomm Summit in Hawaii. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, according to the company, boasts a 45% performance improvement over the Snapdragon 845.
The Mi Mix 3 5G version uses the same sliding mechanism for the camera and the fingerprint sensor is also present on the back of phone. The only change is in the processor which is upgraded from Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 to Snapdragon 855. Still proper 5G infrastructure does not exist anywhere in the world we can hope to see major carrier giants upgrade their current Towers to 5G from early next year.
