Once again, it's that time of the year when Google, unlike many other Android manufacturers, saves its most significant phone launch for the end of the year, giving it a head start on the upcoming year with its latest Pixel flagship devices.
Amidst numerous rumors and leaks circulating, there's a fairly clear picture of what to expect from Google's upcoming Pixel event.
The phone manufacturer has already dropped hints about its products, so it's not much of a mystery at this point.
However, for those who haven't been following the mobile industry lately, here's a comprehensive summary of the announcements expected at the upcoming "Made by Google" event.
How to Watch the "Made by Google" Event:
The "Made by Google" launch event is set for October 4th at 10 AM Eastern Time in New York City, and it will be a live, in-person event.
For those unable to attend in person, Google will be live-streaming the event on both its official Google Store website and the official "Made by Google" YouTube channel.
Google Pixel 8:
The highlight of the Pixel event will undoubtedly be the unveiling of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, Google's latest flagship smartphones. These devices are expected to build upon and refine the design and user experiences introduced in the previous Pixel 7 series and the Pixel 6.
The phones will maintain the iconic camera bar from their predecessors, with noticeable changes such as more rounded corners.
While Google hasn't revealed specific display details yet, rumors suggest that the Pixel 8 will have a slightly smaller 6.17-inch display, while the Pixel 8 Pro will feature a flat display instead of the curved one seen on previous models.
Based on earlier leaks, the Pixel 8 Pro's camera bar will include a new temperature sensor, although the exact purpose of this addition by Google remains unclear.
Google Pixel Watch 2:
The original Pixel Watch took a while to arrive and left some consumers wanting more, especially in terms of battery life. With the new Pixel Watch 2, it appears that Google may have addressed this concern by opting for Qualcomm instead of Samsung.
Rumors suggest that the new Pixel Watch 2 will be equipped with a Snapdragon Wear 5 Gen 1 chipset, which was introduced last year and has only been used in a few phones so far.
In terms of external appearance, the watch will closely resemble the first-generation Pixel Watch, with subtle modifications and an attractive blue color option for one of its watch bands, nicely matching the Pixel 8 Pro.
The device is expected to feature advanced health sensors, putting it in direct competition with the Fitbit Sense 2 and a revamped Fitbit app, positioning the Pixel Watch 2 as a strong contender in the Fitbit smartwatch market.
Google Pixel Buds Pro:
This upcoming announcement is expected to be relatively minor since the Pixel Buds Pro are already available in the market.
However, as hinted by Google, the earbuds are expected to come in a new porcelain color option, and some leaks have also shown them in a blue shade, aligning with the other new Pixel devices.
Android 14:
Following the rumors, Google is expected to make an announcement regarding the stable Android 14 update during the upcoming Pixel event.
This means that the new update could arrive on current Pixel phones before the release of new devices.
