Google has now confirmed that its upcoming Pixel 4 will feature a square shaped camera module on the back of the device. The same square shaped camera bump is also expected to debut in this year's iPhone line up from Apple.
Google Pixel's rear camera setup appears to include two lenses, a microphone, flash, and a spectral sensor. Nokia was one of the first major smartphone makers that incorporated the square shaped camera bumps on its Nokia N8 and PureView models.
Apple is also going to use a square shaped camera bump for its 2019 devices. Apple's square shaped camera bump is expected to house triple lens camera setups in the iPhone XS and XS Max successors. While there will be a dual camera setup housed inside the square shaped bump for the iPhone XR successor.
In the XS and XS Max successors, Apple's camera arrangement will be placed in a triangle shape. Two lenses will be present at the left like on the current flagship iPhones, and one lens in between them set off to the right with a flash above it.
Google's Pixel 4 has the two lenses for its camera arranged horizontally with a flash at the bottom. Apple is expected to launch its 2019 iPhone line up in September, while Google's Pixel 4 is rumored to be coming in the fall.
