Huawei will be blocked from using Google's Android OS in its future device within two months. Huawei is in works with several OS developers to find an alternative to Google's Android. Rather than developing their own Operating System within this short span of time. Using already developed OS by other company seems feasible and practical.
According to a Russian news handle, Huawei will likely go for Aurora OS, which is a Sailfish OS fork. The Aurora OS is based on open source Sailfish OS Linux operating system, developed by Finnish company Jolla. The operating system is not very popular globally but it is known for privacy and security that could be very beneficial for Huawei.
Huawei is already testing Aurora on a few of its devices. Huawei will reach out to app developers to publish on its own AppGallery app store, while the company is also exploring Aptoide as a Play Store alternative. Sailfish itself have a compatibility layer to run Android apps. It will be interesting to see what choices Huawei makes in this crucial time for the company, while how users perceive the changes will determine the fate of Huawei's smartphone segment.
