Google has unveiled a new so called phone which is made up of entirely paper. It is part of Google's digital wellbeing campaign to raise voice against increasing social media and smartphone addiction. Paper phone experiment is one of Google's open source experiments. One cannot take selfies on Google's new paper phone, it cannot be used to make calls too.
Google aims to detox people digitally with its new project. The Paper Phone is developed by a London-based design studio called Special Projects. The users have to install an app on their smartphone, select what they want on the Paper Phone including contacts, notes, maps etc and then, it'll give an option to print it on paper.
Smartphone addiction is now becoming one of the most serious threats to the population. Several smartphone manufacturers have been including time-out apps to help people control their excessive use of a smartphone. Google has a few apps in its Digital Wellbeing portfolio on Android while Apple's Screen Time helps parents limit kids' screen time on their devices.
Google new phone after printing, just folds up and give users a Paper Phone. The paper phone will have everything that the users need to get through the day. Users can also add Sudoku or crossword puzzles to combat boredom. Users will also get tiny slots to add their credit cards in order to replace NFC-based wallet system.
