Worldwide Developers Conference also known as WWDC is an event Apple has hosted for the past 30 years. The 31st WWDC is a digital only event that can be attended online due to the ongoing Coronavirus Global Pandemic. The first virtual WWDC event kicked off on June 22nd and millions of Developers from around the Globe joined the event online to know future versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

The opening Keynote of WWDC 2020 was started by Tom Cook addressing the empty Auditorium, he began with the current major issues the World is facing right now including Black Lives Matter and the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic, then moved on to the announcement of iOS 14, its home-screen redesign and new widgets. The iOS 14 has got a lot of new features and integrations in Messages, Maps, Siri and Carplay.

The iPad specific iOS was also announced at the Keynote, which is basically iOS 14 but with some extra props such as New universal search and Apple pencil/scribble. The Apple Airpods has got Automatic device switching feature and has included Spatial Audio feature which is Simulated surround sound that gives a feel that the audio is “fixed” to the real world around you.

Apple HomeKit can now automatically adjust the brightness/temperature of your connected smart bulbs throughout the day, it has got facial recognition and bunch of other new features.

One of the main highlights of the WWDC 2020 is the MacOS Big Sur, which is basically the next build of MacOS and it has been named Big Sur. It will feel a bit more like iOS with rounded square icons. The MacOS Big Sur will have a Control Center, Notification Center, New Maps, Redesigned Safari browser and bunch of other overhauled extensions.

Apple has announced in the WWDC 2020 that it is switching from Intel to ARM-based CPUs which the company is designing in-house.
