HMD Global is one of the most efficient companies when it comes to pushing out Android updates, the Nokia 7 Plus received Android 9 Pie just one month after its release. And today, at the Nokia 7.1 unveiling event, the company provided an updated timeline for some of its other devices which are going to get Android 9 Pie.
HMD Global has confirmed that both the regular Nokia 6.1 and the Nokia 6.1 Plus will be updated with the newest version of Android. Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco will also get the Android 9 Pie update. The phones will get an over the air air update OTA in next month which is November.
Unlike most Android device makers with custom UI layer upon Android operating system, all Nokia phones come with Android One program. That means the OS is nearest to the Google's original Android and includes monthly security updates and system updates for at least two years from launch.
The update will include features such as Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, and Do Not Disturb mode. Alongwith the Digital Wellbeing implementations that were announced with Android 9 Pie will also be included. Furthermore, the smartphones will also support the new gesture based interface after being updated.
