The general public doesn’t officially have the smartphones until there are launched, but before the official unveilings take place companies usually lend pre-production units to trusted employees in order to ensure there are no issues in the device.
Huawei sub brand Honor, that will be unveiling the Honor 20 series in London on May 21st, has been doing the prototype testing too. But as reported in local media, one of the company’s prototypes has gone missing in Germany. It is speculated that the lost device is the Honor 20 Pro.
Honor marketing employee, Moritz Scheidl who took a train to Munich claims to have placed the prototype inside the backpack before the journey. However, when he tried to reach out for the phone after getting off the train, it was not there. At the moment, it is unclear if the phone just fell off the backpack or if it was stolen.
Whatever the case, Honor is now offering a staggering €5000 (More than Rs. 780,000 in PKR) reward to whoever returns it to the company. Honor says the smartphone had a grey protective case that hides the rear design.
Internet users mocked Honor considering this a cheap marketing stunt but due to the unusual nature of this public appeal, it seems that this may not actually be any marketing stunt and it is instead a legitimate request.
