Honor to Roll Out Android Q Update For Honor 20 Series In Spite of U.S. Ban

Huawei Sub Brand Honor has officially confirmed that it will be offering Android Q update to the latest Honor 20 series. Users thought that Honor would not be able to roll out the Android Q for its devices after the Huawei U.S. conflict. The US government has directed companies based there, including Google, to not supply software and hardware to Huawei due to the security risk from the company.

While In a recent statement posted on Twitter, Honor said that the Honor 20 series, that includes Honor 20i, Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro, will get access to Android Q. Along with the Android Q update, the brand has also promised to roll out security patches and bug fixes for its new range of devices. The Honor 20 and the Honor 20 Pro currently runs on Honor’s Magic UI 2.1, which is more or less EMUI 9.1 with a different name.

In this year's March quarter, Huawei was the second largest smartphone vendor in the world, with global shipments of 59.1 million units and 19% market share, behind Samsung that had 71.9 million units shipment with 23.1% market share, according to research firm IDC.
