We have seen Pinhole camera, Pop Up Mechanism and even a screen on the back of the smartphone to use back camera for selfies. Now OPPO has unveiled a device that is surely going to become a trend in the future. It has developed something that everyone will appreciate, World's first smartphone with Under Screen Camera which is hidden behind the display.
The company showed its Unde Screen Camera, or USC, for the first time at MWC Shanghai 2019, and explained some of the technical challenges the company faced while making it. Oppo says that the display uses a custom transparent material that works with a redesigned pixel structure so that light can get through to the camera.
Still there is a layer between the camera and the object its capturing, that's why OPPO uses bigger lense than usual to capture more light but shooting through an extra layer will affect the sharpness. OPPO uses AI algorithms such as haze removal, HDR, and white balance to address image quality issues occur on the under display camera sensor.

The Under Screen Camera or USC is the result of several years of hard work by OPPO. The project began in 2017, with development officially starting in May 2018, and now it has been developed and officially unveiled in Shanghai. OPPO has become the first company to demonstrate what’s expected to become an industry trend in the future.
