Huawei has been shipping new smartphones with EMUI 9.1 which the latest version of its custom UI skin on top of Android. Now Huawei has announced a great news for its faithful users that the latest version of EMUI will also be coming to dozens of its old smartphones.
EMUI 9.1 is the version of Android that came with the latest Huawei P30 Pro. It is based on Android 9.0 Pie just like the EMUI 9.0 that was installed on last year’s smartphones by the company. The update will bring new features to the existing smartphones and a public beta has been already rolled out for four smartphones.
The EMUI 9.1 has got new themes and fresh icons. The new software comes with Huawei's super file system that saves around 14 percent of space by advanced compression algorithms and improves read performance by 20 percent. It also has advertised improved GPU Turbo performance, HiVoice AI assistant, and PC desktop mode and connections.
The list of 49 devices that Huawei revealed will get EMUI 9.1 covers a wide range of smartphones of different ages and different specs. On the higher end, we have the Huawei P20 series which is already in beta testing. While on the lower end we have the Honor 7X launched in 2017 still being considered for an update.
