Huawei is planning to launch an 8K 5G TV by the end of this year. The Chinese technology giant, which makes its own 5G chips, will be a newcomer in the television industry. According to sources, the TV set would include a 5G modem that will allow it to stream remote content directly without the need for a cable box or a fixed-line internet connection, and it could even act as a router for other internet connected devices in your home.
Pairing a fast 5G connection with an 8K display could be a way of overcoming the difficulties of streaming data heavy 8K content without requiring a high speed fixed line internet connection at home. Along with 8K the TV’s 5G connection could also let users stream 360-degree videos,
Moreover, 5G connectivity would allow users to quickly download VR and other data heavy content and watch it on an equally high resolution 8K display. Cameras and devices and gaming consoles like the next PlayStation are expected to offer up to 8K content, but currently there aren't many TVs that support 8K resolution. Samsung is one of a few manufacturers that offers an 8K television but it is without 5G.
Huawei will have an edge over the other few 8K television manufacturers due to its 5G technology incorporated. Huawei has already beat Apple in 2017 in terms of Smartphones shipments only behind Samsung. In 2018 Huawei’s smartphones sales decline due to the ban in US by Authorities. Let’s see if Huawei achieves another feat by launching World’s first 5G 8K Television this year.
