Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn has stopped some production lines for Huawei smartphones due to reduced orders for new devices from the company. The smartphone manufacturer Foxconn assembles handsets for Google, Apple and Xiaomi. Now it had stopped the production of Huawei phones which is currently the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.
When asked from Huawei for their response on the matter, the official statement from the company made it clear that there is no such development of ceasing any production line. According to the statement, Huawei refutes these claims.
"Our global production levels are normal with no notable adjustments in either direction".Huawei previously had the goal of surpassing Samsung as the top smartphone manufacturer by the end of 2020. Huawei held 15% percent of the smartphone market worldwide in the first quarter of 2019, just behind Samsung that has 19% market share, while Apple has a market share of 11%. Now after carriers refusing to stock Huawei devices and key companies cutting ties with the company it seems quite difficult that Huawei will sustain its position as the second largest smartphone manufacturer.
Leading chipset manufacturers such as Intel and Qualcomm have already ceased all dealings with Huawei. However, the biggest shock for the company is that the smartphone maker won't be allowed to implement critical parts of the Android OS that require access to Google run services such as YouTube, Gmail and the Google Play Store, which is used to install and verify apps and games.
