Google has been working on what could be a replacement for Android for some time now. Fuchsia OS has been teased and tested on some devices. After coming together to create Google's popular Nexus 6P smartphone, Chinese smartphone maker Huawei's sub brand Honor has become the first test bed for Google's in development operating system Fuchsia OS.
An engineer from Huawei posted that the company has been working on making this OS run on their Kirin 970 processor. In addition to this, it also confirms that Fuschias Core platform Zircon was tested on the Honor Play. The engineer was able to boot the device into Zircon, Fuchsias kernel, but does not make any mention of the other layers of the Fuchsia stack, meaning the experience is not yet as exciting as we know Fuchsia can be.
The Honor Play is a gaming phone from Huaweis flanker brand Honor running on Kirin 970. Which means other devices, like the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, and Huawei Mate 10 and 10 Pro, among others, could also have compatibility with Fuchsia OS in the future. Fuchsia is not yet nearly finished and we have no idea when it will be. But Huawei could be among the first OEMs to launch a Fuchsia powered device when it does eventually come out.
