Nokia 9.2 all set to launch in first half of 2020: HMD Global also working on a foldable Nokia smartphone

HMD Global launched Nokia 9 Pureview in July last year, it was supposed to be succeeded by Nokia 9.1 but now reports claims that Nokia is introducing Nokia 9.2 instead. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. It is reported to come with great camera hardware comprising of bigger sensors. The phone won't be showcased in Mobile World Congress Barcelona but will debut in the first half of this year.

There isn't any official word regarding the specs but rumours suggest that the Nokia 9.2 will sport a bezel less full screen display and a 32MP or 48MP front camera for selfies. Sources claim that it will come with wireless charging support and will drop 3.5mm headphone jack. HMD Global is working on Wireless charging pods and may showcase them at MWC Barcelona. The Nokia 9.2 is expected to debut after June 20th.

In a related news, HMD Global is working on a Foldable smartphone and it aims to unveil the device later this year or in early 2021. Foldable smartphones are still out of the reach of the majority of smartphone users because the ones available right now are highly priced. There are only a few options of folding smartphones available most noticeably the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X.

Motorola is also going to launch a clamshell design foldable device called Moto Razr soon. It will be interesting to see how Nokia branded foldable smartphone performs in front of these devices upon its launch. Mobile World Congress (MWC 2020) is all set to begin in Barcelona from February 24, and we can expect to see some interesting new smartphone concepts there.
