Successful Debut of Robotic Surgery at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center in Karachi
The Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC) in Karachi has achieved a significant milestone by conducting its inaugural robotic surgery. The director of JPMC confirmed that a 34-year-old patient underwent cutting-edge gallstone surgery using the latest robotic technology.
This groundbreaking operation, led by a surgical team under the guidance of Jinnah Hospital's Executive Director, Prof. Dr. Shahid Rasool, was executed by Dr. Saddam and Dr. Mansab and completed in an astonishingly brief 25 minutes, according to a JPMC spokesperson.
Robotic surgery, recognized as the pinnacle of surgical advancements, ushers in a new era for general surgery. It is particularly noteworthy for its minimally invasive and less painful approach, making it an excellent option for procedures involving the lower abdomen. The patient's swift recovery serves as a testament to the effectiveness of this innovative surgical technique.
Previously, the first-ever robotic surgery in a public sector hospital had been performed at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) in Lahore.
