Samsung is going to merge Galaxy S & Galaxy Note series from 2019 according to reports

Samsung's Galaxy Note phones have long offered two distinct features over the Galaxy S phones which is a big screen and a stylus. The Galaxy S Plus phones have now gotten very close to the Galaxy Note phones in terms of screen size, and now the company is planning to merge these two phones soon.

Samsung's mobile division has been going through a rough patch for the past few months now. Earlier this month, we saw Samsung reporting profits below estimates owing to falling smartphone sales.

This merger would result in lower development and production costs, and increased profit margins. This development is reported to take place soon after the Galaxy S10 launch, making the Galaxy S10+ the last one in the S plus category.

Removing the S Pen from the Galaxy Note basically leaves us with just a similar sized Galaxy S Plus smartphone, with more or less the same specifications. For instance, The Galaxy S9+ and Galaxy Note 8 are pretty similar models, with the S9+ boasting a 6.2-inch screen, an Infinity Edge design, and dual rear cameras, and the Note 8 offering a 6.3-inch screen with Infinity Edge design and dual rear cameras. While, The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to bear a 6.38 inch display and next year's Galaxy S10+ might get a 6.4 inch display.

What do you think of this news? Would it be a good idea for Samsung to merge the Galaxy S Plus and Galaxy Note lines? Let us know in the comments.
