SD Association bans Huawei from using microSD cards in their future smartphones

With each passing day, things are getting more complicated for Chinese technology giant Huawei after the US ban. In the recent development SD Association has banned Huawei from using microSD card and offering microSD slots in their future products.

SD Association is a non profit entity that controls the standards for SD products. In Order to develop any SD card or SD slot the company must be a member of SD Association. Non members can not officially produce SD products. Now SD Association has suspended ties with the huawei, so it will no longer be able to use microSD form factor storage cards in its handsets.

Huawei has officially stated that its current products which support for microSD card will not be affected as a result of the decision. It seems like Huawei already has an alternative for microSD which it introduced with the launch of the Mate 20 series. Huawei will try to incorporate its own Nano Memory format in its devices instead of using microSD cards

In the recent turn of events Google suspended Android support for the company's phones and chipmakers Intel, Qualcomm and AMD have cut off supplies to the Chinese tech maker. It seems like things are going to be a bit difficult for the world's second largest smartphone seller.
