The folding smartphone segment seems to be greeted by another entrant, this time from Sony. Till now, Samsung, Huawei and Apple were considered as the strong contenders to rule the foldable smartphone segment, but now a regular tipster has revealed that Sony is working on a foldable phone, that too with a different approach.
The tipster attached a video along with his post that shows a Nautilus Design smartphone that rolls up when needed. According to the tipster, the device will be using displays by LG. LG is considered as a pioneer in folding display, it showcased and launched the world's first TV with rollable display at CES 2019 this year.
Some other specifications about the prototype device that Sony is working on has also been revealed, the smartphone will come with 3,220mAh battery, 10X Zoom capability and will be powered by Snapdragon SM7250 processor. Reports suggests that the retail version of the smartphone might feature Snapdragon 855 along with Qualcomm X50.
Samsung, Huawei, Royole Corp and TCL showcased their foldable smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2019 held at Barcelona. It will be interesting to see what Sony comes up with this time around. The rollable smartphone by Sony will be revealed at the end of this year, or in the beginning of next year.
