Whatsapp rolls out Picture in Picture (PIP) feature for Android

Popular instant messaging service WhatsApp has rolled out the picture in picture mode to all its Android users in the latest update. The feature was earlier available only for WhatsApp beta users and iOS users have had this feature for over a year now.

Picture in picture feature allows users to minimise video screens while using other apps. On WhatsApp, users can watch YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram videos without leaving the app. The video will open in a separate box and start playing. Users can pause the video within the box and drag it around on the screen as well.

Once users will tap on the link, the PiP mode will make the video play on the upper half of the chat window. Users will also have the option of making the video play in full screen, and they will also be able to operate the video timeline bar or go to other segments of the app.

The updated version of the app is rolled out on Google Play with version 2.18.280. The facebook owned company is also planning to introduce new features to the platform soon. WhatsApp has also changed the layout of many emojis in this latest update.

WhatsApp is also testing an improved group calling interface for its Android app. This feature would enable users to call up all the members of a group at the same time and would not have to add everyone on the call individually.
