WhatsApp currently does not require any password or PIN in order to be launched, which means anyone can access your account if your phone is unlocked. But now the Facebook owned company is reportedly working on a solution to the problem.
Back in October last year, we heard about WhatsApp testing a feature that would let iPhone users lock the app with Face ID or Touch ID. At that time, there was no word on whether Android users would get this feature or not.
According to a report, WhatsApp has now started testing fingerprint authentication feature with version 2.19.3 of WhatsApp for Android that would let users secure the application with their fingerprint.
The feature will be available to all fingerprint Android devices running Marshmallow or later. The outlet notes that the functionality is still at the development stages suggesting it will take few months to get our hands on the feature.
Last year, Facebook also began testing WhatsApp Pay with around one million users and has processed one million transactions per month since then. The App is going to be a large digital payment transfer platform in coming times.
