Xiaomi’s 100W Super Charge Turbo technology fuels 4000mAh battery in just 17 minutes

Xiaomi leads the fast charging technology by presenting Super Charge Turbo technology. At present, many Android smartphone brands are working on their own version of rapid or fast charging technology. The Xiaomi Super Charge Turbo technology is the world’s fastest flash charging technology, offering 100W wired fast charging support.

The company’s co founder and President Bin Lin shared a video on chinese social media website Weibo today, demonstrating the new technology. The video shows that the technology makes it possible for a smartphone with a 4000mAh capacity battery to be fully charged in just 17 minutes.

In the video, Xiaomi compared its 100W fast charging solution with its competitor OPPO’s 50W fast charging solution. It took just 7 minutes for the Xiaomi smartphone to be charged up to the 50% mark leaving OPPO’s fast charging technology far behind.

The Super Charge Turbo technology is significantly faster than any current wired fast charging solution available. Huawei’s 55W SuperCharge technology in the flagship Mate X allows the device’s 4500mAh battery to charge from 0 to 85% in 30 minutes.

Currently, Xiaomi only offers up to 27W wired fast charging on its smartphones. Even the flagship Mi 9 is only shipped with an 18W charger in the box. While mobile phones such as the Huawei Mate 20 Pro support up to 40W with SuperCharge, while the Oppo Find X  supports up to 50W with its SuperVOOC technology. However, all the competitors will be left far behind with the new technology introduced by Xiaomi.

Super Charge Turbo technology will soon go into mass production, with the Redmi phones getting the technology first. There is no timeline for when we will see a Redmi phone with 100W charging. We can expect to see and experience the Super Charge Turbo in 2nd or 3rd quarter because Xiaomi does not wait to introduce new tech in their devices.
