Apple is expected to launch three new iPhones in September this year, smartphones will be direct successor to the previous year's iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. Apple is aiming to produce 75 million new iPhones in the second half of this year, almost equivalent to the number of iPhones it mass produced in the second half of the previous year.
It is not the final number that Apple is going to produce, it can ask manufacturers to produce more if the demand grows. But Apple has forecast that the demand for this year's iPhone will be the same as the previous year's because of the overall decline in the smartphone sales, and US China trade tensions that escalated a bit this year. Moreover, the iPhone 11 series is not going to pack something new, just a few design changes and basic upgrades are all users are going to get this time.
Apple sold 70 million to 80 million iPhones in the second half of 2018. Apple generated $52 billion in revenues that is 15% less than 2017. Apple hopes to meet the same amount of target if not more because iPhone models are getting more expensive this year. The new iPhone models are expected to house A13 chip, OLED displays and Taptic Engine instead of 3D touch. The higher end iPhone 11 will sport a triple rear camera setup.
