Samsung hinted that the final product of its first foldable smartphone bearing the Infinity Flex Display may have a name including Infinity or Flex terms. But according to the latest trademark filing, the Korean giant might call its first foldable handset the Galaxy Fold.
Samsung filed for the Galaxy Fold trademark on November 27th. The product has an application number of UK00003356515. The patent has been filed under the Class 9 category, which is only for smartphones and tablets.
A small demo was showcased at Samsungs SDC 2018 keynote, revealing how the device would provide an improved interaction for users and how at the time it is completely unfolded, it could provide a tablet sized experience.
The handset will come with a folding display that measures 7.3 inches when unfolded and will come with a resolution of 2152 x 1536 pixels. There is also a secondary display that measures 4.6 inches and will have a resolution of 1960 x 840.
Samsung is expected to make the new Samsung Galaxy Fold smartphone official at Mobile World Congress February next year. Samsung is also finalising the development of One UI, an interface that is exclusively made for the Galaxy Fold and its other new phones with full screen displays.
