Video shows Galaxy X rival Nubia X secondary display in action

Smartphone makers are trying their best to come up with innovative ways that makes their device different from the rest. Making displays larger by putting the front cameras and sensors in a notch or even cutting a pin size hole in the display to place the front camera.

But Instead of trying to fit its selfie camera into a notch, cutting a pinhole in the screen for the lens, or engineering a sliding mechanism, Nubia has decided to ditch all this latest tech from its next handset altogether.

In its place, Nubia wants smartphone owners to use the rear mounted camera to shoot their selfies. To make this easier, the latest handset from the company has a secondary display on the back of the device. The screen is calibrated to match the coating on the back of the handset, so it blends perfectly in the body of the smartphone.

Trusted smartphone leaker, Ice Universe has shared a short video on Twitter showcasing the second screen on the back of the phone in action. In the video, the secondary 5.1 inch OLED screen is set to a screensaver like mode that plays an animation, whilst keeping the majority of the screen blended with the colour of the phone. It appears that, the OLED layer is placed under the gradient colored glass to achieve the effect.

The Nubia X comes with a 6.26 inch LCD with a resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 and a 5.1 inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1,520 x 720 on the back. The device is powered by a 3,800mAh and has 6GB or 8GB of RAM options. Under the hood, there is a Snapdragon 845 processor. The phone comes with Android 8.1 out of the box. Pricing and availability of device is yet to be confirmed by ZTE.
