Google and Huawei were the Android maker's partnered for the 2015 Nexus 6P. Now have proposed a $9.75m fund to settle a class-action lawsuit over complaints for the devices that were having an endless boot loop cycles and battery drain.
Faulty chipsets caused a few Nexus 6P devices to experience never-ending bootloops. Google and Huawei have reached a preliminary agreement to settle a class action lawsuit by paying compensation for owners of the faulty Nexus 6P Android phones.
The court had approved the settlement on May 9th for anyone who bought the 6P from September 25th, 2015 onwards will be eligible for as much as $400 if they provide complete documentation of the purchase. Affected users can apply for the settlement through mail.
The proposal states that those who are eligible for the settlement could be paid up to $400 for their faulty device, while those who received a Pixel XL in the warranty exchange program would only be eligible for up to $10 of settlement.
It is not the first time an smartphone manufacturer has been giving settlement upon lawsuit. The recent high-profile case of LG which paid $425 per owner in the form of a rebate, after settling a similar class action suit upon bootloop issues with LG G4, V10, V20, Nexus 5X, and G5 back in January 2018.
