Finnish software company Jolla has announced its latest, 3rd gen independent mobile operating system Jolla Sailfish 3. Jolla Sailfish is a Linux based operating system like Nokia's defunct MeeGo operating system for smartphones.
Sailfish 3 seems to be more geared towards enterprise use, with the addition of features like Mobile Device Management (MDM) and integrated VPN. On the user interface front there is a new menu, new light ambiences, new keyboard gestures, and other refinements. Jolla says Sailfish 3 also brings performance improvements that should be noticeable for corporate or individual users.
Moreover, Jolla will expand the Sailfish community program, Sailfish X, The company is introducing support for several new Sony Xperia devices and a free trial option within the popular fan & community program. Sailfish X is now available for the whole range of Sony Xperia XA2 models.
Users can download the free trial version of Sailfish OS and install it to their Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Plus, or Xperia XA2 Ultra. Users can also easily purchase and install the Android app support and add several other commercial components to the Sailfish X Free trial version.
