Xiaomi is starting the trend of 18 months warranty for Smartphones

CEO and founder of Xiaomi Lei Jun has announced his future plans for the company and smartphone industry on an event held in China. AI, 5G and Internet of Things are the key essential segments in which Xiaomi is accelerating its efforts and resources.

According to Lei Jun, Xiaomi needs to focus on these three segments and work with aim of continuous development in order to gain more market share in the smartphone industry. Another news Jun has announced is that Xiaomi is setting 18 months of warranty as standard for all their smartphones.

First smartphone launched with this standard policy is Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. It comes with 18 months warranty instead of 12 months. Now Xiaomi has applied this to all its new mid range smartphones. While all the new smartphones that Xiaomi is going to release will follow this 18 months warranty standard from now onwards.

This move will give further boast to the company’s already well established market. Moreover, it will make other major smartphone manufacturers to revise their 12 month warranty policy and increase the standard warranty duration to compete with Xiaomi.

Yan Kesheng, Xiaomi Group’s Vice. President and chairman of the quality committee said during an event, that Xiaomi not only wants to make quality product but it also keeps an eye on the product and its entire life cycle to ensure the product they build gives quality experience to the consumer.
